Which holidays are subtracted

- New Zealand 'Mondayises' several holidays: when Waitangi Day, ANZAC Day, or the Christmas–New Year holidays fall at a weekend, the following Monday becomes the day off. The observed date is what this page shows.
- Each region also keeps its own Anniversary Day — Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury and the rest all on different dates — which is why the list below is long, with the regional rows marked.
- Matariki, the Māori new year, became a public holiday in 2022. Its date follows the lunar calendar and moves between June and July each year.
