Why a school-year calendar is a different thing

A January-to-December calendar splits every school year across two wall charts, and the half you need in September is on the one you printed last year. A split-year calendar puts the whole arc — first bell to summer break — in one view, which is why teachers, parents and students keep asking for one every August.

The start month above is a setting, not a fixed choice. Most of the United States starts in August; the United Kingdom, Ireland and much of Europe start in September; Australia and New Zealand run January to December, where the ordinary 2025 calendar already fits. Weekday counts ignore public holidays, which differ by country — pick a holiday country in the generator and the sheet marks them for you. Term dates themselves are set by each school district or authority, so print the calendar and mark your own.

Set it up for your school

United States: keep August, choose United States holidays, Letter paper, Sunday week start — the defaults.
United Kingdom & Ireland: switch First month to September, holidays to United Kingdom or Ireland, paper to A4, week start Monday.
A classroom wall: switch on Grid lines and the large text size, and consider black & white — holidays print as rings that survive the school photocopier.
Planning homework weeks: switch on week numbers; they run continuously across the year boundary.
